COMMERCE CITY, COLORADO – Day three of matches at adidas-ESP saw more good performances and the selection of the coveted roster spots for the All-Star game. The weather continues to be perfect and the staff led by ESP director Greg Ion are more than helpful to all coaches, scouts and media attending.
Of course we’re the only media attending, I just like to say that.

Team 3 (Mark Santel) 3, Team 5 (Alfonso Mondelo) 0
Team 5 striker Dale McDonald of Brooklyn Patriots was injured early on and things went downhill from there for Team 5. Denver recuit Cole Chapleski was holding the ball well for Team 3, and Solar’s Trevor Hubbard was doing a good job of keeping the ball moving from his midfield spot. Hubbard also nearly scored after a good 1v1 move and hard shot from the edge of the area.
Defender Joe Sofia set up another goal with a long throw that was allowed to bounce to Dallas Texans Houston midfielder Kyle Emerson, who headed home for a 1-0 lead. BW Gottschee’s Daniel Herrera then doubled the lead with a weaving run and a left-footed shot across his body into the back of the net.
Team 5’s Cody Adams (FC Dallas) was good again and made a strong run down the left before crossing directly to the onrushing Reid Hukari (Colorado Rush), but the finish was saved by Lonestar SC goalkeeper Devin Cook. Cook also saved twice directly from Adams in the half.
Another bright spot for Team 5 was Cape Fear, North Carolina’s Jeff Hochuli, who showed good feet on the ball and good tactical understanding off of it.
In the 2nd half, Emerson played a good ball for Sunny Jane (United FC 1996) who shot just wide. North Atlanta SA’s Seth Prieto made a nice pass to Chapleski who scored for the final 3-0 scoreline.

Santa Clara Sporting’s Jimmy Callinan, who has shown well here this week, had a good 1v1 chance but saw his low strike saved by FC DELCO’s Robert Rosato. Irvine Strikers’ midfield Kovi Konowiecki sent a good cross through the 6-yard box but nobody was on hand to meet it. Northwestern recruit Lepekola Seetane put in a good work rate on the day.
The final goal came through some anger shown from defender Andrew Jean-Baptiste.
