Fire add Alex Monis on a Homegrown deal
For the third time this week, the Chicago Fire have officially added a promising teenager prospect to its roster.
U.S. youth international forward Alex Monis was the latest, joining the MLS franchise on a Homegrown deal.
“We’re pleased to announce Alex as a Homegrown signing for the Chicago Fire,” Fire Head Coach Raphael Wicky said in a press release. “Alex is a talented player and while this is a big step, we believe he is ready to develop within the first team environment and continue to sharpen his soccer abilities.”

Monis is the No. 15 ranked player in the 2021 Boys IMG Academy Top 150. Part of the U.S. Under-16 BNT that won the Nike Friendlies last December, he's another promising attacking prospect the Fire can work to incorporate into the first team whenever the season restarts.
Originally part of the Fire in the 2015-16, Monis excelled at FC United, scoring 17 goals in 27 games during the 2016-17 campaign. He returned to the Fire in 2017-18, and he's been part of the academy for the bulk of the time since then. Since the 2018-19 DA season, he played in 30 games, scoring 12 goals for the Fire.
Javier Casas and Brian Gutierrez, also top prospects and part of the class of 2021, were signed by the Fire earlier this week.
