Fringe players hopeful for U17 WC spots

The U17 World Cup counter is now under a month. The tournament kicks off Oct. 17 in Chile, and despite a desperately close shave in CONCACAF qualifying, the U.S. is headed to the U17 big show for the first time since 2011. After missing the tournament for the first time in history in 2013, U17 coach Richie Williams was brought back for another bite this cycle. His team made it. Now we’ll see how they fare.

We know the big names. Christian Pulisic. Luca de la Torre. Daniel Barbir. But what about the outsiders, those players fighting claw over claw for a spot on the final World Cup roster? Here’s a breakdown of a few names you should know as we get closer to the day of days.
