Part of the U.S. Under-17 MNT that qualified for this year's World Cup, Reyna's move to Dortmund had long been rumored, dating back to last summer, when he helped New York City FC win the Under-18/19 Development Academy title. He scored 15 goals in 22 games during the 2017-18 season, before leaving the academy for the most recent season to complete the move.
At the 2019 Concacaf Championship, Reyna scored six goals for the U.S. U17s, where they secured a spot at this year's World Cup in Brazil, despite losing to Mexico in the Championship game.
According to the club, Reyna is set to be part of the Under-19 Borussia Dortmund squad for the U19 team. He is the No. 1 ranked player in the 2021 Boys IMG Academy Top 150.
