Girls Commitments: August 7
Alison Jahansouz, Goalkeeper, So Cal Blues
Class: 2014
Top 150: 134
Commitment: Stanford
Alison Jahansouz, who was profiled in our Recruiting Insider in May, made her verbal commitment to Stanford recently.
“Stanford has been my dream school since I was a young child as I imagine it still is for many soccer players around the country,” Jahansouz told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “Stanford is the ultimate combination of premiere soccer and incredible academic opportunities.”
The standout goalkeeper with ODP experience is also a very serious scholar. Jahansouz carried a 4.5 GPA during his sophomore year.
“I really cannot put a finger on the one thing that drew me to Stanford because the school is truly the absolute unification of a top 5 research university and a national championship caliber soccer team.”
Rachel Marble, Midfielder, Michigan Hawks
Class: 2013
Commitment: Miami (OH)
An outside midfielder for her Michigan Hawks side, Rachel Marble’s decision to make a verbal commitment to Miami (OH) was the right combination for her.
“I wanted a school that was going to challenge me both academically and in soccer,” Marble wrote TopDrawerSoccer.com in an email. “Academically, Miami is very strong and I thought it would be a perfect fit and a great degree to have.”
On the soccer side of things, it was also the preferred option because playing time might be easier to come by earlier her collegiate career.
“I felt that while [the coaches] will challenge me and help me get better, I can also contribute immediately and have an impact to help the program achieve even more success,” she said.
The school itself wasn’t too shabby either.
“I loved the campus and the atmosphere on the campus,” she said. “The type of people and culture that surrounds Miami really had an impact on me. I knew that environment was something that I wanted to be around all the time.”
Kaity Barr, Forward/Defender, San Juan SC
Class: 2014
Commitment: St. Mary’s (CA)(w)
A fast, athletic and left-footed player, Kaity Barr isn’t going too far from home with her verbal commitment to St. Mary’s (CA)(w).
The proximity to her home was just one of many reasons she ended up deciding to make the decision.
“What made me decide to commit to Saint Mary's was their great academics and small family feel of the college,” she wrote TopDrawerSoccer.com in an email. “I want to major in kinesiology, and Saint Mary's has an excellent program.”
Her high school background also provided a sense of both continuity and familiarity with her choice.
“I go to Saint Francis High School, which is a Catholic school like Saint Mary's, and know that Saint Mary's would be a good fit for me,” she said. “The campus is gorgeous and I felt at home immediately!”
