Madison Fulp, Defender, Lonestar SC
Class: 2015
Commitment: Louisiana Lafayette(w)
There was a long list of positive traits that drew Madison Fulp to make her commitment to a perennial Sun Belt Conference contender.
“I decided to commit to Louisiana Lafayette(w) because I like the facilities and how much the campus is growing,” she told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “The campus was really pretty. I liked both of the coaches and how personable they were. I also liked how they ran their soccer practices. They were hands on and very positive to the players.”
Fulp said that the growing program and gradual improvement were also pluses, with players from all over the country on the squad.
“I liked the culture of the school and I also liked how everyone was friendly,” she explained. “The swamp in the middle of the campus was pretty cool and I liked all the huge oak trees everywhere. It also seemed that everyone was one big family and all the soccer girls seemed to get along so well.”
Lauren Flowers, Defender, West Coast FC
Class: 2015
Commitment: Houston
A focused competitor in the back, a connection with assistant coach Mike Stoerkel ultimately persuaded Lauren Flowers to make her commitment to Houston.
“I have kept in contact with Coach Mike since spring and liked his enthusiasm for Houston's soccer program,” Flowers told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “The chance to play for Houston and contribute to their program is a great opportunity. Academics are important to me and I loved the concept of their Honors College Program and recent Tier 1 status.”
The ambition of the program was another draw.
“Coach Chris Pfau has a great vision for the soccer program and his staff shares his excitement,’ she said. “Coach Chris' experience and style of play appeal to me. His enthusiasm is contagious and makes a player want to improve and succeed. Coach Chris is aware of my desire to pursue a degree in the medical field and he and his staff are supportive of the scholar athlete.”
Outside of the soccer team, Flowers’ positive experience on her visit helped make the decision final.
“The staff, students, players and advisor all made me feel so welcome,” she said. “I felt like I belonged there and can't wait to attend. The support is awesome.”
