Girls Commitments: June 7
Madison Damm, Midfielder, Scorpions SC
Class: 2013
School: Syracuse
During her search for the right college program, Madison Damm had a pretty specific idea of what she wanted to find.
“When searching for the right school, I was looking to move out of New England but stay on the East Coast,” she wrote TopDrawerSoccer.com in an email. “I looked at both large schools and small schools and found myself drawn to a larger university. I was looking for a school that played in a top conference and also offered a high level of academics and variety.”
That ultimately led her to commit to Syracuse, where she’ll begin competing for the ACC-bound program in the fall of 2013.
And from Damm’s perspective it has the right blend of school and sport, and won’t take her too far from home.
“Not only does Syracuse offer high level athletics, but also offers the academic programs I am interested in pursuing,” she said. “Syracuse is also within driving distance of my family in Rhode Island making it easy for them to come and visit. I am originally from Buffalo, so I am quite used to the lake effect snow fall that Syracuse is known to receive.”
Michela Ongaro, Goalkeeper, FC Milwaukee
Class: 2013
School: Oklahoma State
A competitive and vocal netminder, Michela Ongaro is Big 12-bound.
The shot-stopper recently committed to play at Oklahoma State, with Coach Colin Carmichael helping tip the scales in favor of her becoming part of the program.
“I chose Oklahoma State because of the high caliber of their soccer program and the coaching staff,” she wrote TopDrawerSoccer.com in an email. “I've always wanted to play D1 soccer and OSU has had a very consistent, impressive record. They made me feel at home and were so gracious during the recruiting process.”
She’s not only looking forward to taking her game to new heights at a Division 1 soccer program, but also liked the academics on offer and the school’s location.
“I am excited to get down there, meet the team and really elevate my game to the next level,” she said. “However, I also look forward to getting a good education and being close to family. I love the ‘small-town’ feel of Stillwater and the support the college receives from the community.”
