San Diego Surf’s recent dominance moved the Southern California squad into the top spot in the Barca Academy TeamRank Top 25 for the Girls U13 age group. Surf won the Manchester City Cup in May with a 5-0 record. Over the weekend event against other top teams, Surf scored 26 goals and did not concede one. Surf is currently in Seattle for the Far West Regional event. The team is 2-0-1 and heading into the quarterfinals on Friday. Real Colorado managed to hold Surf to a 1-1 draw. Juliauna Hayward scored the opening goal against Surf, but a late strike from Acacia Edwards allowed Surf to keep the unbeaten streak alive. Emma Pidding and Edwards are joint leading scorers for Surf at the regional event with two goals a piece.
While teams like Cincinnati United Premier - Gold and Soccer Domain FC 09 wait for their regional events to kick off on Friday, the Region IV teams continue to shrink the field trying to contend for the National Championship. PacNW G04 Maroon makes the big jump in the TeamRank Top 25 this month thanks to their play at the event in Seattle. PacNW is 3-0 at the event and won Group A. Arianna Brothers is the top scorer for PacNW with three goals from three games.

In the U14 age group, the top teams have been on break for nearly a month while they wait for the start of the ECNL Champions League playoffs. The first games of the event were on Friday as the top 16 teams bid for a chance at the top honor in the best girls club soccer league.
Given the lack of games prior to this week, the Barca Academy TeamRank Top 25 did not have many changes from the May edition for the U14 age group.
LA Galaxy San Diego G03 Elite-Higham jumps into the Top 25 this month after a strong showing in Seattle at the Region IV Championship with a 3-0 record in group play. Vanessa Cruz is the leading scorer for her team at the event with three goals from three games.

Barca Academy TeamRank is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.
The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.
Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.
A final layer of executive evaluation is provided to account for variables that often impact results, thus ensuring that the monthly lists are not subjective, but are not purely mechanical.
