IMG, Sockers new at U16
FC Dallas and FC Golden State are both tearing through 2015, climbing this month to No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
Sockers FC continues its unbeaten streak in Development Academy play, with a 6-0-3 record good enough for second in the Mid-America Division and No. 18 in the Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25. IMG Academy 150 Class of 2019 standout Aidan Liu has played in every match for the Evansville, IL based squad, starting five, and has two goals to his credit, though he is the only freshman to make the U16s roster.
New to the rankings this month is IMG Academy, landing at No. 22. IMG’s stacked roster from the classes of 2017 through 2019, including youth national team members Ben Lederman, Hanif Wright, and Indiana Vassilev (when not with the U14 squad) has helped this team to a 4-1-2 record and third in the Southeast Division.

RIII PL West winds down at U17
The Region III Premier League’s West Division finished up its season, qualifying teams for the 2016 USYS Region III Championships. Solar Chelsea Red (Passos) and Oklahoma FC 99, who finished as the top two teams in the league’s A Division, defeated B Division champs FC Dallas Youth 99 Premier and TUSC Blitz United 99 in a playoff format to determine the berths. Solar climbs to No. 5 and now awaits the advent of USYS National League play, while OFC climbs to No. 18.
The flux in the rankings at this age group continues, as several teams underperformed, dropping off the list, with others took their places. Three teams - Chargers SC, Dallas Texans, and North Carolina Fusion - debut this month. Chargers, one of the four teams mentioned throughout this update, lands all the way at No. 8, with the Texans and Fusion at No. 24 and No. 25. Dallas Texans suffered a 5-0 loss to No. 2 Houston Dynamo in the first match of the season, but are undefeated since, and sit second in the Frontier Division. North Carolina Fusion sits second in the Southeast Division with a 5-2 record, narrowly missing a chance to earn a point against divisional leader Chargers, thanks to a 90th minute goal from Chargers midfielder Robert McCoy.
Next Thursday: U16, U17, and U18 Girls
Grande Sports Academy TeamRank is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.
The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.
Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.
A final layer of executive evaluation is provided to account for variables that often impact results, thus ensuring that the monthly lists are not subjective, but are not purely mechanical.
