The ECNL Playoffs are upon us and the final weeks of the season had a big influence on the Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25 in the U18 age group. The top team remained roughly the same with spots in the playoffs already locked up. St. Louis Scott Gallagher and Ohio Elite Soccer Academy jump into the top 25 this month. Both teams nabbed playoff spots in the recent months.
Northern California side Mustang SC also jumped up the rankings this month. Mustang SC went 2-0 in May and helped their playoff position with a strong finish to the regular season. Boston Breakers also had a great finish to the season with a 5-0-2 record in May.
For much of the year, Michigan Hawks, PDA, West Coast, and Real Colorado have looked like the favorites in this age group and nothing has changed in that regard over the last month. Hawks, PDA, and West Coast were all unbeaten in May as they sharpen their play off the push for a national championship in June. View the full list of top 25 teams here.
The last month of the regular season in the ECNL was full of surprises. Some teams used the final month of the campaign to improve their spots in the playoffs while other teams jumped into the playoff picture with strong performances at the end of a long campaign.
Slammers FC and Solar Chelsea SC move up to No. 1 and No. 2 in the Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25 for U17 girls club soccer teams in the June edition. Slammers went 7-0 in May while Solar was 6-0 last month.
Eagles SC was one of the teams to jump into the TeamRank Top 25 this month. Eagles went 7-1 in the month and nabbed a spot in the playoffs thanks to the late charge at the end. Heat FC, another hot team in May, barely missed out on the Champions League playoffs but still grabbed a spot in the Team Rank Top 25. Heat FC went 5-1-1 over the last month and notched wins over a number of playoff-bound teams. View the full list of teams in the Grande Sports Academy TeamRank for U17 girls.
The story in the U16 age group of girls club soccer has remained the same all season with the dominance of So Cal Blues and the rest of the teams trying to catch up. As the age group heads to the postseason later this month, the narrative has not changed since September. Blues are top of the Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25 for June and the rest of the rankings did have a minor shake-up.
FC Stars of Massachusetts and FC Dallas move up into the No. 2 and No. 3 spots in the rankings. Both teams enjoy good runs of results in May and look ready for the playoffs. Penn Fusion made the biggest jump in the standings for the month. Fusion was 8-0-3 over the course of the last month. MVLA also moved up in the rankings after going 3-0 in the last month.
Minnesota Thunder is new to the rankings this month after recording some key victories last month and moving up the standings in the ECNL Championship League standings. View the full Top 25 in the U16 girls age group.
Grande Sports TeamRank is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.
The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.
Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.
A final layer of executive evaluation is provided to account for variables that often impact results, thus ensuring that the monthly lists are not subjective, but are not purely mechanical.
