BW Gottschee continues its run through the Northeast Pre-Academy League and takes over the top spot in our rankings this month. Though still second in the league standings to #3 Match Fit Chelsea, Gottschee hasn’t dropped a match since October and seems quite ready to face any foe on its way to the NPL Champions Cup.
#19 Colorado Storm Copa 00 and #16 Real Colorado National are in a battle for bragging rights in the state as well as the TeamRank Top 25. Real Colorado topped the Storm in the Colorado Advanced League regular season, and leads the NPL’s Mountain Developmental League with one game remaining, hoping to qualify for the NPL Champions cup in their home state. But the Storm has the CO State Cup trophy in hand, and will be headed to Hawaii in July.
Charlotte SA breaks into top 5 at U14
Charlotte SA climbs from #7 to #5 this month, and has been leading the Southeast Pre-Academy League virtually all year. With only one point needed out of the final two games, they look to be the top seed in the league playoffs on Memorial Day weekend.
CSA head coach Brad Wylde says that defense has been the key to the team’s success. Conceding only 7 goals all season, the back line rotation of Jensen Graham, Jesse Curran, Adam Watkins, Connor Demaine, Tanner Jordi, and Georgie Espina “have all shown a lot of commitment, passion, and desire to play at the highest level in the country in future years.”
Coach Wylde also touted the goalkeeping of Andrew Pennenburg and Jacob Schachner who have come up with big saves to contribute to the team’s great season.
The top three of #1 Sunrise SC, #2 BW Gottschee Pre-Academy, and #3 FC Dallas Pre-Academy continue to perform well and remain unchanged this month, though formerly undefeated #2 BW Gottschee did fall from the ranks of the undefeated thanks to a stellar PDA squad. PDA lands at #6 this month after taking over second place in the ultra-competitive Northeast Pre-Academy League. PDA hasn’t lost a match in league play since September when they fell to Albertson Pre-Academy, but will get a chance for redemption when the two teams meet again for the last game of the regular season on June 2.
New to TeamRank this month is Alliance Academy 98 Boys Black at #22. The Grand Rapids-based club placed fifth in the US Youth Soccer National League’s blue division, currently leads their division in the Midwest Regional League with one game remaining, and have been crushing their competition in Michigan Youth Soccer state cup play, scoring 27 goals so far without a single concession.
Next Thursday: U13, U14, and U15 Girls
TeamRank is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.
The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.
Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.
A final layer of executive evaluation is provided to account for variables that often impact results, thus ensuring that the monthly lists are not subjective, but are not purely mechanical.
