Welcome again to Players To Watch. Today we take a look at some of the top Great Lakes boys in the 2013 graduating class.

Travis Wannemuehler of Indiana United and the U15 national pool is an excellent attacking winger with great pace and ball service, with the added ability to get behind defenses and score goals himself.

His teammate Christian Soto is an attacking midfielder player with good quickness and creativity going forward, whose best asset is his ability to play the crisp final pass to send teammates through to goal.

Jalen Brown and Joseph Amico are two dynamic, athletic attacking players who love to run at defenders and blow past them with an extra gear. Both excel in one-on-one situations and create space to score goals for Indiana United.

Derek Dedman is a physical holding midfielder with a clean touch, good defensive abilities who makes smart decisions and reads the game exceptionally well.  

Joey Kunkel of Ohio Elite is a hard-nosed and athletic holding midfielder with hard, decisive tackling and a good soccer brain. Footwork is not his strength, but is valuable for his ability to roam the field as a guard dog and blow up any attack.

Ryan Hall is a goalkeeper for Ohio Elite with excellent technique and the ability to read the game. He has struggled with a back injury over recent weeks, but is perhaps the best ‘keeper in the Region when healthy.

Mosi Clark is an athletic winger for Ohio Elite who gets up and down the field, sends dangerous balls into box, takes players on and defends with equal aplomb. He’s an all-around athlete and a pure soccer player.  

Nick Ranieri is an extremely intelligent winger who breathes the game and is a master of tactics. He tends to get a bit tricky with the ball at his feet, but is a great asset to his Ohio Elite team.

Matt Habrowski of Derby County Wolves and the U15 National Team is a center back with great physical attributes and the ability to provide accurate service over any distance. He’s strong in the air, an excellent communicator and one-on-one defender, and a field general with exemplary toughness and commitment to the game.

Miguel Polley, also of the Derby County and the U15 BNT, is a flexible attacking player with great creativity and the ability to take players on the wing. He can play with both feet, has good quickness and an extra gear that separates him from his peers.

Their club teammate Oliver Harris is a central midfielder with a great work rate and two-way abilities. His combination of hard-nosed toughness and technically advanced play has college scouts drooling over his potential.

Mike Leone of Vardar is a solid defender who can be used as a utility player all over the field. He excels as a holding midfielder and can play as a forward with his back to goal, and projects to be a key cog on the U16 Development Academy team this year.

Matt Smolinsky is a fantastic keeper with all the physical tools to excel at the Academy level. His skills propelled his U15 Vardar team to the National Championships last year, and he was a primary reason for his team’s undefeated finish.

Phillip Soong is a center back with a great mind and understanding of the game. He is a solid presence in the defense who will be a great asset for the Vardar Academy this year.

His Vardar teammate Tyler Jugon is another utility player who has a diverse skill-set that allows him to thrive anywhere on the field, but he is best suited as a dynamic attacker on the wing.  

Columbus Crew’s Ray Oliveria is an extremely fast forward with good size, strength in the air and the athleticism to take over a game.  

His teammate Dave Wickhoff is a technical, tactically advanced attacking midfielder who sees the field as well as anyone in the age group. He is still growing into his frame, but is a player with a very bright future.
