Gutierrez signs Homegrown deal with Chicago
U.S. youth national team midfielder Brian Gutierrez became the latest prospect to sign a Homegrown deal this week, the Chicago Fire announced on Monday.
Gutierrez, a 16-year-old attacker from the Chicago Fire Academy, becomes the 16th Homegrown signing in franchise history.
“Brian is a promising young player who we look forward to working with at the first team level,” Fire Head Coach Raphael Wicky said in a press release. “This signing is a testament to the hard work that Brian, his family and the Fire Academy staff have put in throughout the years.”
Part of the Fire Academy since 2015, Gutierrez has made 79 appearances during that span. He's scored 28 goals and added 39 assists during that time.

The No. 57 ranked player in the 2021 Boys IMG Academy Top 150, Gutierrez has also played for the U.S. Under-14 and Under-16 Boys' National Teams. He was named to the TDS Best XI at the 2019 Boys Development Academy playoffs.
“I’m excited for Brian because he’s a talented and creative player,” Chicago Fire FC Academy Technical Director Cedric Cattenoy said in a statement. “He’s improved a tremendous amount over the last two years, and I think he’s going to see continued success in his development within the first team environment.”
