Haji Wright on the precipice of Europe

The burden of promise has officially fallen on Haji Wright’s slender shoulders.

Wright has suddenly become one of the hottest young prospects in the U.S. Soccer U17 pool almost overnight. The 15-year-old attacker has always been blessed with a raft of attacking guile and prodigious athletic abilities, but consistency has occasionally been an issue. Two weeks ago at the Nike International Friendlies, he knitted the sum of his talents together effortlessly to lead the U.S. to the title by scoring five goals in three games. That won him the Golden Boot at an event studded with top youth talent from England, Portugal and Brazil.

The world apparently took notice.
