HS: PND among four teams to move to No. 1
It's easy to understand why the Dakotas attempt to wrap up fall high school soccer in early October ... the weather.
Unfortuntely, weather won out this year.
Parts of the state experienced snowfall that exceeded two feet, and with it, the scheduled high school state championships in North Dakota of last weekend have been delayed to this week.
North and South Dakota are aiming to finish the high school season this week.
Around the country, there were four regional No. 1 changes as Lower Merion (Pa.) and Peoria Notre Dame (Ill.) boys and Archbishop Spalding (Md.) and Faith Lutheran (Nev.) girls took over No. 1 spots. Lower Merion, Spalding and Faith Lutheran advanced on the heels of losses by last week's regional No. 1 teams. Peoria Notre Dame, meanwhile, returned to the top spot by winning a region No. 1 vs. No. 2 contest. PND previously held the region No. 1 position until a loss to St. Ignatius (Ohio) two weeks ago.
