BRADENTON- The second day of the IMG Cup College Showcase at the IMG Academy started off with gloomy, cold weather, but the day ended with some beautiful Florida sunshine. Here are some of the key matchups from the day.

Davie United Sharks 99/00 U16 (FL) 1-1 NEFC Premier South U16 (RI)

In one of the most competitive games in the U16 circuit, the Davie United Sharks 99/00 looked to bounce back from a disappointing opening day of play and put on a better performance Saturday morning against NEFC Premier South, which came down from Rhode Island.

The bunch from Rhode Island took an early 1-0 lead, as midfielder Olivia Mederios scored the game's first goal. After taking the initial 1-0 lead, NEFC settled into more of a defensive stance and later on, Davie United would take advantage.

The Sharks eventually broke through later in the first half when Daniella Tobon scored on the rebound of a shot inside of the penalty box. Tobon's score would be the last of the contest, with each team jousting for possession at midfield and scoring opportunities were at a minimum.

"After we equalized the game, (NEFC) started putting more pressure on us," Davie United coach Matthew Perry said. "But it became more of an even game in the second half and our energy was high so I was happy about that."

IMG Academy U15 G (FL) 3-0 C1 Tampa Bay United Elite Girls 00 U15 (FL)

Playing at home has its perks.

Just ask IMG Academy U15 squad, whom looked comfortable in their Saturday morning contest against C1 Tampa Bay United Elite Girls 00.

IMG took an early 1-0 lead within the first 20 minutes of play when forward Enzi Broussard found fellow teammate Ayumi Hirooka for the game's opening goal. Hirooka's goal would be the lone score of the first half, but she wouldn't be done with her scoring.

Hirooka struck again early in the second half and gave IMG a sizable 2-0 lead. Teammate Tate Nunnick tacked on a third goal for good measures and gave IMG a key Day Two victory.

"Real good ball movement and possession for the girls," IMG Academy coach Kimberly Dean said. "Just getting numbers upfield and finally converting on some of the opportunities we had yesterday and as good for us."

IMG Academy U14 B U15 (FL) 1-0 Global Premier Soccer GPS NJ South '01 U15 (NJ)

Scoring opportunities in the contest between IMG Academy U14 B and Global Premier Soccer out of New Jersey were aplenty, but somehow only one goal was amounted through 80 minutes of play.

IMG's was on the attack early and often, with the home team creating scoring all throughout the game. The Bradenton-based club ended the game with 18 shots on goal compared to GPS NJ's mere six.

IMG Academy got on the board midway through the first half when left forward Diego Franzot scored the game's only goal. Despite Franzot being the only player to score, IMG's had a multitude of chances to tack on more goals. Other players had multiple chances, including Sebastian Pandura and Carlos Heinze.

GPS NJ's goalkeeper Michael D'Ottavi was under duress the entire game, but was able to keep IMG at bay. D'Ottavi was solid in goal and made eight saves on the day.

Team Boca 98/99 Boys White U17 (FL) 2-1 C1 TBU Tampa Bay United Premier Boys 98 U17 (FL)

The U17 circuit had several entertaining games on the day and one of them was the contest between Team Boca 98/99 White and C1 TBU Tampa Bay United Premier Boys 98. Both teams were looking to perform well on the big stage.

Team Boca nabbed the early 1-0 lead on a goal from Matthew Lyras, as he chipped it over the outstretched arms of Tampa Bay's goalkeeper. Tampa Bay wouldn't stay silent, however, for too long as they answered with an equalizer from Christian Castrejon.

The teams went into halftime tied at 1-1 and Team Boca hoped to pickup from where they left off in the opening half and they would. The go-ahead goal would be scored by Alec Michael Petrizzi early in the second half and that's all Team Boca would need to hold. Though they won, Team Boca coach Michael Araujo hoped for a few more goals from his group.

"We didn't play well," Araujo said. "When you don't play well and you win, that's a positive I can take from this game."
