Keeping June 15 in Perspective

While June 15 is like any other day on the calender for most, for the aspiring college soccer athlete from the class of 2025, it brings a bit more.

Under the current recruiting rules, it marks the first day that prospective student athletes are allowed to communicate with college coaches.

Even though it's a significant milestone for soon-to-be juniors looking to play at the Division I level, it's important to keep things in perspective.

With so many programs out there, all on various different points of building their future classes, not every major program will be on the phone to every single player. Some recruits will be bombarded by colleges, while others may not hear from many. And that's okay.

Considering coaching staffs haven't had any communication with a prospective player from that class, huge offers aren't going to be handed out at a breakneck pace. Some players from the class of 2025 may commit on June 15. Some may still take their time. Try not to worry too much about it.

The recruiting process is a lengthy journey, and one that players can take the time to enjoy. Think of all the work you've put in to this point: countless hours of practice, traveling to games, showcases, working hard to improve on and off the field. The opening day of a communication window doesn't define your journey as a player. If your No. 1 school doesn't contact you, don't let it drag you down. There are countless of players committed for 2024 recruiting classes that likely didn't hear from their future coaches on June 15.

As mental health weighs on the minds of current college athletes, trying to keep the long view as the recruiting journey hits another milestone is important. No matter what happens, there is plenty of time to keep putting in the work as you chase your goals.
