Local club star trains with Angel City
Seventeen-year-old Annie Karich took part in the Angel City FC preseason training. The local talent was the only youth player invited to take part in the preseason for the expansion side. Karich, a member of the U.S. U20 Women’s National Team pool, was one of 10 midfielders in training camp, and the only non-roster invitee for that position.
Karich currently plays for Beach FC in the ECNL. She previously played for So Cal Blues. She is a talented midfielder with lots of tools to take her game to the professional level in the future. Her passing and vision are her best attributes. She is part of the Santa Clara recruiting class for 2022.
“I think it’ll inspire younger girls, especially the ones that grew up in LA and in Southern California,” Karich told TheScarletScroll about Angel City FC’s arrival in LA. “Being able to go watch games in person is really inspiring.”
The midfielder told No Days Off that being cut from ODP and youth national teams early on helped keep her motivated to achieve her goal of playing professional soccer one day.
She is not the only youth player gaining valuable experience at the professional level during the preseason. Jaedyn Shaw, from Solar SC in Texas, trained with Washington Spirit during the preseason.
