North Carolina FC today announces the signing of youth standout Kyrome Lumsden to a professional contract, pending league and federation approval. The 16-years-old midfielder brings extensive U.S. Youth National Team and club academy experience as a cornerstone signing in the club’s youth-to-pro model.
Lumsden has been a member of the Los Angeles FC Academy for the past five years. An extremely promising prospect for the United States, he's been a member of the U.S. Youth National system since the U15 level. He recently earned the right to serve as captain for his team during their tournament in Italy last year.
“This is an amazing moment for me and I’m so grateful for this opportunity to begin my professional career. The environment at North Carolina FC when I first walked in the locker room, I felt welcomed it was different because I have never really been in a professional environment. I’m going to take every opportunity to learn and grow as I play and train here,” Lumsden says.
“We are extremely excited for Kyrome to sign his first professional contract here at North Carolina FC. He is a talented and ambitious player that I believe will greatly benefit from our daily professional environment. We are pleased to be able to play a role in Kyrome’s development and future, as our club continues our intentions on helping top youth players in the United States in their professional journeys,” said NCFC head coach John Bradford.
Lumsden has begun training with the club and will be available to make his club debut for North Carolina FC in their international friendly this Friday against Sunderland at WakeMed Soccer Park.
