In the past year, Major League Soccer has made public the desire to pivot into more of a selling league.
The (relatively) successful sales of Alphonso Davies to Germany and Miguel Almiron to Newcastle have shown that players can move from MLS to Europe and provide an impact. The window for moves to Europe is open until October 5 this year, even as most leagues kick off at the start of September. In the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic cutting into revenue, MLS may not sell as much due to the interested sides not meeting the league’s valuation.
So who could be next among young, domestic players? These five candidates come to mind as potential players to move on.
