Tessa Devereaux is looking to lead her Empire United SA squad to new heights this season.
“We have had tough losses two years in a row in state cup,” said Devereaux, a 2012 graduate. “We’re not going to let that happen again.”
As Devereaux explains, she has “endless energy” and is always in motion on the field. She prides herself on being one of the hardest workers on the field and is always looking for an advantage over her opponents.
With that said, she’ll likely be looking for ways this season to move up the ladder in our rankings and catch the No. 1 2012 girls’ New York player, Cari Roccaro.
Our 2011 New York girls’ list starts with Karin Simonian, a player small in physical stature but large in ability and intangibles. Lia Bellizzi, Megan Hunsberger and Ariana Aston also highlight the 2011s.
Amanda Rooney is the top girls’ player of the 2013s while Jaclyn DiMartino also highly regarded. Shelby Fredericks is our top 2014 player.
On the boys’ side, Taylor Washington of FC Westchester leads off the 2011s and is heading to Boston University. Andres Penfold and Oscar Castillo are No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.
Other leaders include Alex Kapp (2012), Tarek Beckles (2013), Dylan Greenberg (2014), Stephen Elias (2015) and Callum Johnson (2016).

This drive and determination is one of the many reasons Devereaux is ranked No. 5 in our New York Region.
