Notes from Youth National Team camps
Notes from U14 Boys National Team camp:
It was obvious from the scrimmages on Wednesday that Barcelona Infantil B midfielder Ben Lederman was the best player on the field from the youngsters born in 2000. One of the major parts of Lederman’s game that stood out to those in attendance was his natural ability to check his surroundings before receiving the ball. The 12-year-old, originally from Southern California, was rarely dispossessed because he always knew where the defender was coming from, which is something you rarely see from players in this age group.
National team scouts remained high on United Futbol Academy midfielder Christopher Goslin after his 25-minute performance on Wednesday. Goslin was taken off in the first half after an injury. Prior to the exit, he was very involved in the play as the lone defensive midfielder. The youth national team shifted to a system with two defensive midfielders after his exit. The 12-year-old from Georgia has a game that is reminiscent of current Stoke City and U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder Maurice Edu.
