Nyeman signs Homegrown deal with D.C.
Moses Nyeman became the 13th Homegrown signing in D.C. United history, the franchise announced this week.
The central midfielder first joined D.C.'s Academy in 2015, with the U12 age group. The midfielder has appeared in 83 games, making 70 starts, chipping in 10 goals during that span.
"Moses is a promising young prospect who has grown exponentially in the last 18 months with our Academy and has gotten extensive professional minutes with our USL Championship affiliate, Loudoun United FC,” D.C. United General Manager and VP of Soccer Operations Dave Kasper said in a release. “He has been a top performer for our U-16’s and we're looking forward to utilizing Loudoun United to continue his development as a player with hopes of having him on the field for the Black-and-Red in the near future."
Nyeman is the No. 1 ranked player in the 2022 Boys IMG Academy Top 150 rankings.
With D.C. United launching Loudoun United in the USL Championship this season, Nyeman made his professional debut as an amateur on June 6. Since then, he's made 11 appearances, including six starts for Loudoun, scoring a goal and adding an assist.
“We are incredibly proud of Moses and his efforts to reach the first team,” D.C. United Academy Director Dave Sanford said in a release. “He's obviously talented but his mentality and drive make him unique and a truly promising young prospect for the Black-and-Red. Moses is now the 13th Homegrown signing in club history and we're excited to continue utilizing our academy as a pipeline to the first team. Credit to all the staff that have been involved in his development over the years leading up to this point.”
While not yet a U.S. citizen, Nyeman holds a green card and was called into U.S. U16 BNT camp in September.
