ODP, National League continue in Carolina

WILSON, N.C. (Dec. 12, 2009) – As the US Youth Soccer National Boys teams played through the third day of games at Wilson Gillette Soccer Complex in Wilson, N.C., all were looking for strong results to help boost their team’s standing in the League.
Only one day of games is left in this first round of play for the National League Boys, with games resuming at 7:30, 9:15, 9:30 and 11 a.m. The teams play next in Weston, Fla., in February and then finish the season in Las Vegas, March 19-20 at Player’s 2010 Soccer Showcase.
Under-15 Boys
The Under-15 Boys Michigan Wolves went up 1-0 over the Dallas Texans 95 Red (N-TX) when Ali Jawad successfully completed a penalty kick in the 18th minute. The Wolves held position and the lead until the 63rd minute when Brandon Aubrey found the back of the net for the Texans. Though they tied, the Texans are in first place for the Under-15 Boys age group thanks to wins in the first two days of play.
Under-16 Boys
Marking their second win of the weekend, Blast FC Red (OH-S) won 3-0 against TSC 94 Black (OK) today. At the half, the game was deadlocked at 0-0, but soon after, Blast came back ready to win. David Witkoff hit one in the 48th minute and teammate Joshua Saunders had another Blast goal in the 65th. Witkoff finalized the Blast win with his second in his 78th minute.
Sereno White (AZ) and Penn Fusion Celtics (E-PA) played a tight match today, with a 1-0 Sereno win. William Ellis had the sole Sereno goal in the 26th minute. Today’s win is Sereno’s second of the weekend and has them sitting at the top of the Under-16 Boys age group.
Under-17 Boys
The Under-17 Boys game between GSA Phoenix Red of Georgia and TSC 93 Red of Oklahoma marked the highest scoring game yet with a total of nine goals. TSC kicked off the action with a 4th minute Max Moller goal, but before the half GSA netted three from Adnan Junuzovic, Josimar Olmos and Walker Zimmerman in the 22nd, 27th and 39th minutes. The 3-1 score remained until the 70th minute when both teams picked up momentum. Iain Smith started it off with a 70th minute GSA goal and Omar Mata countered for TSC a minute later. Smith netted one again the 76th minute, but TSC again countered with an 85th minute Cristian Mata goal. Smith completed a hat trick and the 6-3 GSA win with a 90th minute goal.
Blast FC Red opened today’s game against an undefeated Penn Fusion Coppa with a 3rd minute Greg Highley goal, but Penn wouldn’t go into half time down 1-0. Robert Friskey netted a 37th minute goal for Penn for the 1-1 half time draw. Penn was resilient in the second half with goals from Brandon Stevis, Korbin Keene and Matthew Sabin in the 52nd, 68th and 83rd minutes for Penn to win 4-1 and continue their undefeated streak in National League play.

The US Youth Soccer ODP Boys 1992 Interregional event is being held in conjunction with the NCAA Division I College Cup Championships and the opening weekend of the US Youth Soccer National League Boys’ season to provide greater exposure of these elite players to collegiate and national team coaches.
1992 Region II 2, Region IV 1
Region IV jumped out to an early lead thanks again to Ian Ramos as he scored his third goal of the weekend in the 19th minute to open the scoring against Region II. Things started going Region II’s way in the second half as they forced an own goal to even the score in the 66th and then Tanner Schilling sealed the comeback with a minute to play to give Region II a 2-1 victory over Region IV.
1992 Region I 1, Region III 0
For the second straight day Region I shutout their opponent as they beat Region III 1-0 on a Kofi Agyapong goal in the 66th minute. Agyapong’s goal is the first for Region I this weekend, but they have yet to be scored on in their first two games.
US Youth Soccer is divided into four regions, Region I (East), Region II (Midwest), Region III (South) and Region IV (West) to assist in national competitions.
US Youth Soccer ODP is known as the premier identification and development program for the nation's youth seeking the opportunity to compete at the national, professional and collegiate levels of play.

After Dix Hills Thunder’s (E-NY) 5-1 victory over Lemont Raiders (IL) today, the Thunder are tied for second place with Albion White (CA-S). Jonathan Interiano hit a Thunder goal in the 28th minute and Ricardo Aldape countered for Lemont in the 42nd. Thunder took control of the game with back-to-back goals in 50th and 57th minutes from Donovan Fraser and Interiano scored his second of the game in the 61st. Fraser wrapped up his hat trick and the 5-1 win with a 68th minute goal.Under-16 Boys
