PacNW Team of the Month for August
Here is the Players To Watch Team of the Month in August for the Pacific Northwest region (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska).
Remember, this feature is to honor top performers in their region over the past month or so and across the span of age groups. There will be a boys' list and a girls' list, and a new region will be covered every weekday, Tuesday through Friday of each month. You can submit nominations at teamofthemonth@topdrawersoccer.com .
Following is the Boys List, in no particular order.
Ian Lange, Seattle Sounders, U16 (WA), Defender: Ian was a back line force for the team at the USSF Development Academy National Finals, and added a match-winning goal to his week’s efforts.
Jordan Schweitzer, Seattle Sounders, U16 (WA), Midfielder: Schweitzer’s lobbed pass set up a goal in his team’s 1-1 draw on opening day of the USSF Development Academy National Finals.
Jordan Morris, Eastside FC Select, U16 (WA), Midfielder: Jordan was tabbed to the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships Select XI after putting in a solid showing at the event last month.
Jesse Klug, Seattle Sounders, U16 (WA), Forward: Klug scored the opener for his team at the USSF Development Academy National Finals.
Oscar Zepeda, Washington Premier, U13 (WA), Midfielder: Attacking player, creative on the ball and has great vision. Did well at the Crossfire Challenge this summer.
Alex Zimmerman, Washington Premier U13 (WA) Midfielder: Athletic and strong finisher who covers a lot of space on the field and is good on the ball.
Cayman John, Washington Premier, U13 (WA) Winger: Small and quick, plays well above his weight and can beat most anyone 1v1.
Following is the Girls List, in no particular order:
Claire Goss, FC Nova, U16 (ID), Midfielder: Versatile player helps all over the field and in the final game of the U.S. Club Soccer National Championship, she played in the back to help neutralize a strong attacker for the opposition, helping the team win the title.
Baylee Blazer, FC Nova, U16 (ID), Forward: Scored the winning PK in the final of the U.S. Club Soccer National Championship, along with contributing offensively throughout the event.
Maya Lopez, Haley Clark, Cassie Harrigan, Tualatin Hills United Onyx, U13 (OR): This trio were instrumental in their team’s championship-winning performance at the Clash at the Border Tournament in Vancouver.
Cassidy Richmond, Washington Premier, U17 (WA), Forward: Scored a number of goals for her team at the ECNL National Showcase in Denver. Committed to Boise State.
Grace Hancock, FC Nova, U15 (ID), Defender: Made the U.S. Youth Soccer Region IV ODP Holdover Pool. Another player from the club who can play several positions on the field, including forward. Playing varsity as a freshman at Boise High School.
Jazmyne Jones, Washington Premier, U17 (WA), Defender: Outstanding in the back line during the weekend Showcase matches at the ECNL National Championships. Committed to FIU.
Madi Campbell, Oswego Southside Soccer, U16 (OR), Midfielder: Deployed in a holding role, Mary won a ton of ball and provided one of the important links between front and back as her team won the Surf Cup Gold Division in San Diego.
Stephanie Hamilton, Washington Premier, U17 (WA) Midfielder: Runs her socks off and wins tackles all over the field. This ultimate team player remains uncommitted in the 2012 graduating class.
Adrian Nixt, Oswego Southside Soccer, U16 (OR), Forward: Played a vital role in her team’s win at the Gold Division of the prestigious Surf Cup.
Devan Talley, Lyrik Fryer, Olivia Ovenell, Hannah Reynolds, Eastside FC Red 96, U15 (WA): This quartet helped the team sweep to victory recently at the Rimland Cup, winning five matches by a combined score of 29-1.
