PL West Perfection, Struggle, Uncertainty

The Region III Premier League West has had a varied season among all the age groups. Some were completely dominant, finishing a perfect season, while other teams had to struggle to claim the title. Even though there are several teams that have already clinched a title in their perspective age groups, there are still a few teams that have work ahead of them.
Here’s a recap of the PL West champions (*), how they got there, and what’s left for some other teams.
U14 Boys
*FC Dallas Premier (9-1-1) – 28 Points
Dallas Texans Red (8-1-2) – 26 Points
Lonestar SC Red (7-2-2) – 23 points
FC Dallas just squeezed out the PL West title after finishing the season two points ahead of second place. FC Dallas’ 4-1 victory over Dallas Texans in early October was a pivotal win after dropping its first game of the season a few weeks later to Andromeda SC White.
*Solar (11-0-0) – 33 Points
Dallas Texans Red (7-2-2) – 23 Points
Andromeda Red (7-3-1) – 22 Points
Solar U15 Boys took the cake, ate it, and had seconds. Finishing the season with a perfect record showed its dominance in league play. And if it didn’t, take into account that it outscored its opponents 44-5.
U16 Boys
*Albion Hurricanes FC (7-2-0) – 21 Points
OK Texans (5-2-1) – 16 Points
Solar (5-3-1) – 16 Points
South Texas club Albion ended the season with a 1-0 loss to Solar but was far enough from the pack to clinch the PL West after finishing second last season. The team benefited from its 2-1 victory over OK Texans (a Dallas Texans affiliate) and Solar ‘s 1-1 draw to OK Texans.
U17 Boys
*Tulsa FC (9-1-1) – 28 Points
Dallas Texans Red (8-3-0) – 24 Points
Texans Houston (6-1-4) – 22 Points
The only loss that Tulsa FC U17 experienced was early in the season in a 3-1 bout against Tulsa Black. From that point, the squad posted four consecutive shutouts and found the net 14 times in route to the 2010 Premier League title.
U18 Boys
*Tulsa Red (7-0-0) – 21 Points
Dallas Texans Red West (5-1-1) – 16 Points
Union Tulsa National (4-3-0) – 12 Points
Tulsa repeated last year’s success with a second consecutive Premier League title, running undefeated and untied. Tulsa was very dominant in the offensive side of the ball, having multiple games scoring 3 or more goals. However the defense was somewhat porous, only shutting out two opponents in the season.
U14 Girls
*Lonestar SC (9-0-2) – 29 Points
Sting (7-1-1) – 22 Points
Dallas Texans Red Dallas (6-1-2) – 19 Points
Austin-area club Lonestar finished its first season in the Premier League by capturing the U14 Girls title undefeated and clearly ahead of second place. Aside from the 8-0 debacle over NYSA Fury Green and the 5-0 shutout against Hurricane FC Beattie, most of Lonestar’s victories were close, one-goal margin wins.
U15 Girls
*D’Feeters (8-0-1) – 25 Points
Lonestar SC Red (7-1-3) – 24 Points
Albion Hurricanes FC (6-1-4) 22 Points
The D’Feeters have still two games left in the season, but it has already clinched the Premier League title. A huge part of the success D’Feeters has had is in large part to the defense’s ability to shut down opponents seven different times, including a six game shutout streak.
U16 Girls
Hurricane FC Shubert (9-0-0) – 27 Points
Sting (9-0-0) – 27 Points
D’Feeters (6-2-1) – 19 Points

11/13: D’Feeters – North OKC OFC
11/14: Sting – TUSC Blitz United
11/14: Hurricane – Solar
11/14: Tulsa TSC – D’Feeters
This race has yet to be decided since both Hurricane FC and defending national champions Sting have two games left in their schedule including a head-to-head match up this Saturday. However Hurricane FC has had a memorable run so far not allowing a single goal in nine games of play. Additionally, eight of those nine games had a 3 or more goal margin.
U17 Girls
Challenge SC (5-4-0) – 15 Points
Dallas Texans Red (4-1-2) – 14 Points
Sting (4-3-2) – 14 Points
North OKC OFC (4-1-1) – 13 Points

11/13: Dallas Texans Red – North OKC OFC
11/14: Tulsa TSC White – Dallas Texans Red
11/14: North OKC OFC – Solar Red
This is the tightest race from all the Premier League West age groups. Challenge SC and Sting have completed their season so their points are locked in, and actually have no chance to capture a title. The reason is because both Dallas Texans and North OKC still have two games left, including one against each other, which opens a can of worms on different scenarios. Dallas has a point lead to North OKC OFC, but if it slips, then the door is open for North OKC OFC to take the title.
U18 Girls
Lonestar SC Red (7-1-1) – 22 Points
Dallas Texans Red (6-1-0) – 18 Points
D’Feeters (6-1-0) – 18 Points

11/13: D’Feeters – Hurricane FC Shubert

Similarly to the U17 Girls, the team on top does not have a chance to claim the title. Both Dallas Texans and D’Feeters have two games remaining and if both win out, the title may be decided through a tiebreaker, either goal differential or head-to-head, which Dallas has an advantage in both.
