Player ratings from U20's easy win over Cuba
Maya Hayes and Katie Stengel each scored twice in the first half, and the U.S. U20 women’s national team coasted to an easy 6-0 victory over Cuba. Vanessa DiBernardo and Chi Ubogagu added goals in the second half on the second day of Group B play from Panama.
The win seals the U20’s spot in the semifinal round of the CONCACAF Championship with the game against the host on Tuesday to determine the seeding.
Player ratings (1-10):
Abby Smith, 5. It was an easy day for Smith, no saves required. Did not even see the ball at all in the second half.
Crystal Dunn, 6. Dunn provided another solid performance on Sunday. She raced down the right side all game, and contributed a great assist on the second goal.
Olivia Brannon, 5. She made a couple of tackles, completed some passes, but really there was not much for the defense to do in this game.
Kassey Kallman, 5. See Brannon.
Sam Mewis, 7. It was a masterful 45-minute showing from Mewis. She was strong on the tackle, charged through defenders with ease, and allowed Brian to play high up the field.
Morgan Brian, 6. The center midfielder pushed the lines forward for much of the first half, which spread the confused Cuba defense. She showed for the ball well and cut up the competition.
Mandy Laddish, 5. With Brian pushing the line so high, Laddish was lost in space at times. When she did receive the ball, she was a touch too quick trying to force it into the forwards. Seemed more comfortable and confident in the second half when DiBernardo replaced Mewis.

Maya Hayes, 6. Hayes found the back of the net twice in the opening 30 minutes, and then disappeared from the game.
Katie Stengel, 7. Stengel only had 45 minutes on the field, but she made the most of it with two great goals in the first half. Her second goal was a touch of class with a splendid turn and composed finish.
Chi Ubogagu, 6. With her combination of skill and speed, Ubogagu should be dominating games. Today, she had a great assist in the opening five minutes, but it was another 80 minutes before she contributed to the stat sheet again.
Substitutes:
Lindsey Horan, 5. Horan dropped back too deep into the midfield to receive the ball, which allowed the defense to shepherd her away from the goal.
Vanessa DiBernardo, 6. Beyond her well-taken goal, which was stylishly done, it was a quiet half for DiBernardo.
Sarah Killion, 6. Her twenty-minute cameo did not provide much time to influence the proceedings, but she did well connecting passes and seeing the game out.
