The 2019 edition of the men’s Nike Friendlies kicks off on Thursday, Nov. 14.
It’s a different format than usual in a World Cup year. Instead of 2004s kicking off a new cycle, players born in 2002 and 2003 have the chance to compete for either a U.S. U17 or U16 squad against the likes of Turkey and the Netherlands.
The older squad is comprised of players not selected to this year’s World Cup, while the Under-16 squad serves as a catch-all for players that didn’t make the squad and were born in an off-year.
Here are six players called up with the chance to prove something this week in Florida.
