Research is crucial to every college search, and that’s the stage where Britne Holderby finds herself in the process.
She’s got a firm idea of what she’s looking for, including what part of the country she’d like to head to.
“It is important for me to have a good connection with the program, coaching staff, and the overall vibe of the campus,” she wrote TopDrawerSoccer.com in an email. “My search is very broad; although most of my search so far has taken place in the southeast, mid Atlantic, and now expanding to the northeast.”
A hard-working defender who usually plays as a left back, she’s got a dangerous left foot every coach wants to have on his or her roster. Part of her research has been making visits to various schools across the country.
And Holderby is in no rush for make a decision.
“I plan to be verbally committed by end of my junior year,” she said.

A creative attacking midfielder for Freestate, Casey Martinez is in the thick of her recruiting search and looking into different college soccer programs.
Three main points stick out to her when it comes to deciding on a criteria for college.
“My decision would be based on how well I feel connected to the coaching staff, the style of play, and the level of the school's academics,” she wrote TopDrawerSoccer.com in an email.
The process has taken her to visits at schools such as Duke, Maryland, Virginia and Virginia Tech. Each stop has been a good experience.
“I enjoyed meeting and getting to know each of the coaches,” she said. “The kindness shown to me and obvious love for the game is evident in the success of their programs.”
Martinez’s search hasn’t taken her too far away from the east coast, although she’s not ruling out attending school further from home. If all goes well, she plans on making a decision at some point during the summer.
