Results from Alianza National Showcase
After four days of training and matches in front of more than 30 professional scouts, the 56 finalist of POWERADE® Sueño Alianza National Showcase assisted the final ceremony, where they received invitations from different teams to try to reach their dreams of becoming professional soccer players.
Breaking a record from previous events, this year all the players received a total of 216 invitations from teams of the Liga MX, Ascenso MX, MLS and USL.
The finalists came to POWERADE® Sueño Alianza National Showcase after participating in the local tryouts, were more than 9,500 players, representing 46 states, showcased their talent in the 12 tryout cities of the 2016 Alianza de Futbol Tour.
During the final concentration in Maimi, Florida, the 56 players trained and played against local academies.
They were coached by Miguel Ángel Gómez, Assistant Coach of the U-20 Mexico National Team and received motivational speeches by recognized talents of Telemundo Deportes such as Carlos Hermosillo and Miguel Gurwitz.
In the Final Ceremony, the international soccer legend, Carlos “Pibe” Valderrama had a special participation and recognized Salvador Martínez from Mission, TX, who was the player that received the most professional invitations (14).
José Levario from Fort Worth, TX, received the Top Scholar Athlete Award from Alianza U, as the best college prospect from all the 9,500 registered players. The other 14 players were recognized as the Top College Prospects of Alianza: Jaime Gutiérrez, Javier Peña, Osciel Domínguez, Nicolás Carrera, Clemente Quintero, Iván Castillo, Jair Sosa, Erick Villarreal, Alan Ayala, Alexis Garcia, Regner Guillen, Edgar Pérez, Alejandro Guerrero and Christopher Bermúdez.
The Allstate Golden Gloves Award from POWERADE® Sueño Alianza National Showcase was awarded to
Francisco Yapor from Houston, TX.
