Acclimating to a new team is always a daunting task, especially as a young player. However Charlotte Brascia, who ranks only behind Betsy Brandon in the Rocky Mountain and Southwest Regional Top 20 Players To Watch for 2014 Girls, has been able to capitalize her move to Neusport U15 ECNL squad into a positive experience.
“This is Charlotte’s first year with Neusport, and she is still young enough to be with the U14s, but she has done great,” Neusport Head Coach Tom Amick said. “She’s tall fast, and tremendously skilled for a tall kid. She is a more technical player, likes to score goals, and has been taking our set pieces.”
The other key to Charlotte’s success is the necessity of a player with her capabilities. Amick runs a system with three in the front, and he needed a center striker to make the offensive scheme work.
“She plays that central high striker position I was looking for,’ he said. “Lauren Kaskie plays the attacking center midfield, and we have great flank players, but we were missing that piece up high that is a pure goal scorer. Charlotte fits that bill perfectly.”
With her time at Neurosport, Charlotte has played almost every minute of every game, and has given a huge boost to a team that currently sits second in the ECNL U15 table.
“She’s only a freshman and her best soccer is still in front of her,” Akind said. “It has helped being around a team that has a lot of good players, which has made her better than where she was.”
The rest of the Rocky Mountain and Southwest Regional Top 20 has Cate Parchinski leading the 2011 Girls, Lindsay Horan the 2012 Girl, Gabrielle Miranda the 2013 Girls, and Amy Alexander the 2015 Girls.
On the boys’ side, Dustin Berg tops the 2011 Boys, Dillon Serna the 2012 Boys, Victor Rios the 2013 Boys, Jason Eng the 2014 Boys, and Joshua Doughty the 2015 Boys.

What has helped Charlotte be successful to her new team is the familiarity that exists among the team. Akin has known Charlotte for several years, coaching her older sister, and has come into Neusport understanding the system.
