Some teams celebrate; others wait
November 4, 2010
The Coast Soccer League is entering its last weekend of regular season play, but already some titles have been clinched.
United FC Black U19 and South Coast Bayern U15 have won the league championships on the boys’ side. Meanwhile, Real So Cal White U15, Slammers FC U17, and Eagles Blue U18, all clinched the season title on the girls’ side.
Undefeated and one of the top teams in the nation, United FC U19 Boys put up a wall on the defensive side all year, allowing only four goals in 10 games. Factoring in the quantity of goals the team produced, the goal differential of plus-28 is the best of the entire Coast Soccer League.
Steve Palacios, Chris Britr, Bryan Breslin, Michael Breslin, and Erik Mackie led United to the title.
Bayern’s key players were Luis Dominguez, Edqin Elizazzaraz, and Paul Salcedo.
Vastly improved from its fifth place 2009 finish, Real So Cal U15 White won their age group after a dominating performance that left the girls’ team seven points clear of the championship. As much accolades as United FC is getting this season, Real So Cal was just as impressive. They only recorded one loss, a 1-0 bout against Arsenal FC, and that lone goal was the also the only goal recorded against the team. From the start of the season, Real So Cal went more than seven games without being scored on.
Continuing to control the U17 age group, Slammers FC clinched the 2010 CSL regular season. Unlike the aforementioned teams, Slammers had several games that came to a slim margin of victory. Seven of its games came down to a one-goal difference, of which one was its only loss – a 3-2 defeat to CZ Elite Soccer in mid October.
Slammers leaned on Allyson Brahs, Sarah Cox, Aubrey Baker, Erin Owen, and Courtney Proctor for its success.
After losing to Crescenta Valley SC, 1-0, in mid September, Eagles Blue U18 went on a seven game tear en route to capturing the regular season title. The team posted some very commanding victories, including a 6-0 shutout against Desert United, a 4-1 win over MVSC, and a 3-0 of Eclipse Blue.
