As U15 players, the girls of Scorpions Soccer Club came within one win of capturing the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship last season. After winning at regionals, they stormed through their competition until losing in a 1-0 heartbreaker to Dallas Sting.
A season later, the U16 Scorpions SC girls began their campaign on top of our TeamRank rankings for the Northeast Region, though they’re more focused on finishing the season atop the national rankings.
Described by Marks as a technical team that keeps it simple and passes and receives well, the U16 Scorpions have exceptional personnel.
Lauren Berman is a central midfielder who initiates a lot of the attack for the group, while Andrea O’Brien makes consistent runs and establishes a great work rate for the team. The sister pair of McKenzie and Madison Meehan are invaluable assets for the squad. Madison, can play just about every position on the field; both sisters are heading to Boston College.
Defensively, Kendall Andrew is a tall athletic player who serves as the glue for the backline. Goalkeeper Bridget Conway is making her way back from a broken leg, and is also a key component.
Elsewhere in the girls’ rankings, you’ll currently find the Northeast landscape is dominated by Stars of Massachusetts. The club is in first-place in U14 play, U15, U17 and U18.
On the boys’ side, we have first-place teams: U14 New England FC, U15 Black Watch RI Premier, U16 Beachside SC, U17 FSA United and U18 Stars of Massachusetts.
