A3 Soccer U18 (MD) 3-0 Rochester Soccer Club U18 (NY)
A 3-0 loss to Met Oval yesterday for A3 Soccer left a bad taste in their mouths heading into Sunday morning's matchup against Rochester Soccer Club. The Maryland-based team wanted to bounce back and they did in a big way.
For the better part of the first half, both teams could not muster up any good shots on goal, with defense reigning supreme. The scoring for A3 would occur in the latter part of the second half, as they exploded for three goals.

Midfielder Tomiwa Adelekan had a couple scoring opportunities early, but would capitalized on a couple via passes from Stefan Damas and Taylor Gray, respectively. Fellow teammate midfielder Adolph Hegewisch also added a goal before both of Adelekan's goals.
Rochester's best scoring opportunity came late in the second half on a penalty kick by Ethan Wilson, but was denied by A3 goalkeeper Robert Boles, who made two saves on the day.
Barcelona USA Maryland SC U18 2-0 TSF Academy U18 (NJ)
Barcelona USA Maryland SC U18 2-0 TSF Academy U18 (NJ)
Not many true chances to score were available to TSF Academy and Barcelona USA Maryland SC, who needed a win or tie to advance in the tournament finals brackets. So with much on the line in an elimination match, both teams played very competitively at a high level.
Within the first 20 minutes of play, Barcelona bumped into the very break they needed, as defender Chris Abarca was fouled in the penalty box, which resulted in a penalty kick. The ensuing PK was scored by teammate Rene Rodriguez in the 18th minute. Outside of the penalty kick situation, Barcelona didn't find many other opportunities, playing primarily in defensive mode.
TSF Academy searched in vain for an equalizer and just could not find it. Despite having seven corner kicks, TSF was not able to turn any of those set pieces into goals. Barcelona would finally put the match away in the final eight minutes, as Rodriguez notched his second goal of the match, assisted by Christopher Aparicio.
DCPDA U16 (MD) 3-3 Papsippany SC U16 (NJ)
A win or tie was all DCPDA needed to advance to the knockout rounds and they were able to do that Sunday, but not without a little bit of difficulty along the way. After taking a 3-1 lead, DCPDA had to hold off a late surge from Papsippany SC in the second half, en route to a crucial tie.
DCPDA, whom are based out of Washington D.C., took an early 1-0 lead on a goal from forward Jacob Barrette and assisted by midfielder Anthony Eleazer. The two ended up switching roles, as Barrette setup Eleazer for the club's second goal, which seemingly looked to give DCPDA all the momentum they needed heading into the latter half of play.
Just before halftime, however, Papsippany would respond with a much needed score of its own, as forward Anthony Tosin Olokungbemi scored the team's first goal and Nicholas Kriak came on with the assist. DCPDA's final score of the match came via defender Peter Schans to put his club ahead 3-1.
Tempers flared soon after the goal, with Eleazer and Papsippany's Dylan Evande were both ejected after getting into a brief altercation, which involved some pushing and shoving.
Washington Spirit Academy VA Red U16 6-0 ACYS Spirit United U16 (MD)
Washington Spirit Academy came into Sunday's matchup against ACYS Spirit United needing some goals to help their cause in the standings. They were very much able to give themselves some needed points in the division, as they put together a scoring showcase. The Virginia club scored to the tune of six goals total and shutout ACYS with ease.
You could've blinked from the outset and there was already a goal on the board, with Washington's Annie Sorando scoring the game's first goal and Cameron Taylor had the assist. Moments later, Taylor decided to score a goal herself and got on the board unassisted. Rachel Jackson became the third different player to score for Washington. Sorando added a second goal to put her team up 4-0 at halftime.
With ACYS lacking players on the bench, Washington took advantage and added two more goals in the second half, with one coming via an own goal. Taylor finished the match with a goal and two asissts.
