TCU Inks Seven For 2015
TCU women's soccer head coach Eric Bell has announced the signing of seven student-athletes for the 2015 season. Three of the seven signees come to TCU with national team experience. Two have won their country's national championship with their respective clubs.
The Horned Frogs welcome two Nebraska natives in Faith Carter (Papillion) and Carsen Lundgren (Elkhorn). TCU's signing class also includes Cachet Lue from Ontario, Canada, Cedar Park's McKenzie Oliver, Colorado native, Kayla Hill (Highlands Ranch), Liz Stewart from Sisters, Oregon and Justine Rendl from Santa Ana, Calif.
"We are really excited about the incoming class," raved Bell. "Some of the signees have been committed to us for two years now. We are really excited about the talent pool we have coming in. They are going to make an immediate impact in our team."
Faith Carter • F • 5-8 • Papillion, Neb. (Marian HS/Elite Girls Academy)
Played club soccer for Elite Girls Academy and head coach Marcus Kelcher alongside fellow signee Carsen Lundgren... helped the 96/97 Maroon Elite team to Nebraska State Cup championships in 2010 and 2013... team was also a finalist in 2011, 2014 and 2015... they also claimed the 2011 GSI College Showcase Championship, the 2013 Midwest Regional League Championships and the 2013 US Club Soccer National Premier League championship... lettered four years at Marian High School in Omaha... was a first-team all-state selection as a junior... earned second-team all-state honors as a freshman and sophomore... scored 43 goals combined over her first three years on the squad.
Bell on Faith Carter:
"Faith is an amazing talent. Physically and athletically, she will provide us with a different dynamic we haven't had here before at TCU. She is very committed to being a good player. She wants to be the best that she can be. Her athleticism will give us an opportunity to stretch teams more so than we've done before. With her goal-scoring ability, I think she will score some goals. I think our fans will be very pleased with her soccer abilities."
Kayla Hill • MF • 5-4 • Highlands Ranch, Colo. (Thunder Ridge HS/Colorado Rush)
Played club soccer for the Colorado Rush and head coach Erik Bushey... helped lead her club team to the ECNL national championship in 2012... a three-year member of the Colorado State Region IV ODP team... participated in the US National Camp in 2011 and 2012... a member of the US Soccer Training Center for the last five years... earned three letters at Thunder Ridge High School... was first-team all-league and second-team all-state as a junior... also named the runner-up for Player of the Continental League... was a nominee for Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior... captained both her ODP team and high school team as a junior.
Bell on Kayla Hill:
"Kayla was one of the first commits in this class. We are really excited about her. She has fantastic ball control and is extremely skillful under pressure. She has a good soccer brain as well. Her mobility is something that is a big part of her game. We are looking for her to have an immediate impact in what we are trying to do."
Cachet Lue • D • 5-9 • Mississauga, Ontario, Canada (St. Aloysius Gonzaga SS/Mississauga Panthers)
Had a decorated career with the Mississauga Panthers coached by Trevor Bertrand... helped lead the team to the 2010 Ontario Soccer Association Indoor Cup, the 2011 U14 Outdoor Cup and the 2014 U17 Outdoor Cup... was also a silver medalist at the 2011 U14 Canadian National Soccer Club Championships... earned a gold medal at the 2014 U18 Canadian National Soccer Club Championships... is a member of the Jamaican National U-17 and U-20 teams... appeared in the U17 2012 CONCACAF tourney as a member of the Jamaican National Team... helped Jamaica win the 2013 Caribbean Cup and advance to the U20 CFU first round... earned an invite to the Jamaican Senior Women's Team in 2014 and most recently participated in their Senior Women's Team Camp in Florida in March of 2015... high school team was a Regional finalist in 2012... attended the Umbro Top rated College Showcase from 2012-14, the Ajax Showcase in 2012 and 2013 and he Ohio Elite Soccer Showcase in 2013.
Bell on Cachet Lue:
"Cachet is a central defender. She's a big, strong athletic young lady who can provide us more options on our back line. She is very good with the ball at her feet. Athletically, she definitely fits in as far as being able to compete at the Big 12 level. Our hopes are that she is going to have an immediate impact on our team as well."
Carsen Lundgren • MF • 5-6 • Elkhorn, Neb. (Elkhorn South HS/Elite Girls Academy)
Played club soccer for Elite Girls Academy and head coach Marcus Kelcher alongside fellow signee Faith Carter... helped the 96/97 Maroon Elite team to Nebraska State Cup championships in 2010 and 2013... team was also a finalist in 2011, 2014 and 2015... they also claimed the 2011 GSI College Showcase Championship, the 2013 Midwest Regional League Championships and the 2013 US Club Soccer National Premier League championship... named the U15 OFC Player of the Year... was a four-year letterwinner at Elkhorn South High School... has been a three-time all-conference performer... earned Offensive MVP honors in 2014... named to the Lincoln Journal Star Super-State team in 2014... earned Omaha World Herald Class B first-team accolades as a junior... led Class B in scoring with 28 goals and 11 assists... helped lead her squad to a runner-up finish at the 2013-14 Nebraska State Cup... tabbed Elkhorn South Newcomer of the Year in 2012... was Academic All-State as a junior... also a two-year member of the National Honor's Society.
Bell on Carsen Lundgren:
"Carsen is very good soccer player, an athletic young lady and good with the ball. I'm looking for her to impact our team as an outside back. She's going to be a good player for us."
McKenzie Oliver • F • 5-4 • Cedar Park, Texas (Vista Ridge HS/Lonestar Soccer Club)
Plays club soccer for Lonestar Soccer Club for Darren Warham and Don Cameron... began playing on the U11 team... invited to the US Training Center in 2011 and was recommended for the US Club Soccer's ID2 national development program... was a U14 Region III finalist in 2011... team went 5-0-0 at the U14 WDDOA... participated in the Disney Jr. Showcase and advanced to the finals... posted a 16-0-2 record en route to winning the Region III Premier League West Championship... in 2010, team was the STYSA Classic League Champions with a 7-0-0 mark... also won the U12 WDDOA championship with a 6-0-1 record... four-year letterwinner at Vista Ridge High School... earned district MVP honors three consecutive seasons... scored 40 goals as a Senior in 2015... was a first-team all-region performer as a junior after scoring 27 goals... earned team MVP honors as a sophomore after scoring 32 goals... collected 29 goals as a freshman.
Bell on McKenzie Oliver:
"McKenzie was the first to commit in this class. She is a very fast, athletic young lady. She's good with ball at feet and very good running at players 1 vs. 1. We believe she will impact the attacking side of the game in a variety of ways. She has a goal-scoring quality as well and a competitiveness about her that I very much like."
Justine Rendl • GK • 5-11 • Santa Ana, Calif. (Foothill HS/So Cal Blues)
Played club soccer at the ECNL level for the So Cal Blues and head coach Larry Draluck... helped lead her team to the 2012 Blues Cup finals... squad won the Blues Cup championship in 2013 en route to being in the ECNL playoffs... was a four-year letterwinner at Foothill High School... in 2014, helped lead her team to the league championship for the first time in school history... earned all-league first team honors in 2014 and 2015... also earned the team's 2015 Most Inspirational Award and The Coach's Award... helped lead her team to the Crestview League Championship her senior year... is a four-year scholar-athlete award winner... appeared in the Southern Section Division I Senior All-Star Game as a junior... also trains with the U18 Canadian National Team.
Bell on Justine Rendl:
"Justine has a great presence in the goal. She has fantastic hands and a very good kicking game. She will come in and push our current goalkeepers for playing time."
Liz Stewart • MF • 5-11 • Sisters, Oregon (Sisters HS/Bend FC Timbers & Omega Select)
Played club soccer for the Bend FC Timbers for head coach Jen Davin as well as Omega Select for head coach Gaspard D'Alexis... helped lead her club squad to the Oregon Club State Championships in 2011 and 2013... was a three-time first-team all-league performer at Sisters High School... earned Player of the Year honors three times... tabbed a first-team all-state performer three times... also selected as MVP of her high school team each of the last three years.
Bell on Liz Stewart:
"We are looking forward to having her join our group. She is a tall, athletic young lady who comes to us from Oregon. I think she is going to come here and have an opportunity to compete for playing time right away with her athleticism and speed. Technically, she is very solid with the ball and she is very, very good in the air. Her ball-winning ability is fantastic."
