Team America forward is ranked #1
The Class of 2014 has already gotten the taste of national team camp. One player who’s made an impression has been Jorge Calix, now ranked number one in the Mid Atlantic Boys Players to Watch rankings.
The Virginia native was called up to the U15 Boys’ National Team Camp this past November and will continue to lead his club, Team America, in hopes to continue his national team progression.
“Well, personally, my only goal is to make every camp with the U15 Boys National Team,” Calix said. “Another goal, with my team, would be to do great at the National League (upcoming) in Florida.”
Playing in the attacking third of the field, Jorge’s strength lies in his footwork. It allows him to make the game easier, gives him the ability to create chances or find the feet of open players, and keeps him at the top of the list.
“Being one the best players in my region feels great, but it takes lots of hard work,” Calix said. “I love playing the sport because it gets intense and I love playing with passion.”
For the rest of the rankings, UMBC bound Zachary Wenger leads the 2011 Boys, and Michael Gamble jumped up three spots to #1 in the 2012 Boys.
Nicko Corriveau leads the 2013 Boys while U14 BNT standout Gedion Zelalem sits on top of the 2015 Boys.
Among the girls Alexandra Doll is ranked #1 in the 2011 Girls, followed by Whitney Church and Elizabeth Casey.
Ashley Spivey leads the 2012 Girls, Lindsey Lane is on top among the 2013 Girls, and Andi Sullivan leapfrogged Imani Dorsey for #1 in t 2014 Girls rankings.
