Texas soccer adds seven for 2015
Texas head soccer coach Angela Kelly and the University of Texas soccer program are proud to announce the addition of seven new Longhorns for the 2015-16 academic school year.
Signees that will join the program for the upcoming 2015 soccer campaign include (Hometown/High School/Club Soccer Team): Forward Alexa Adams (Lancaster, Calif./Quartz Hill High School/Real So Cal ECNL 97), Midfielder Kayra Dollas (Orange, Calif./Lutheran High School of Orange County/ Legends Futbol Club), Midfielder Katie Glenn (Round Rock, Texas/Rouse High School/Lonestar SC ECNL 97), Forward Nakia Graham (Austin, Texas/Westwood High School/Lonestar SC ECNL 97), Defender Haleigh Guerra (Canton, Ohio/Jackson High School/Internationals SC ECNL 97), Defender Paige Hooper (Beaumont, Texas/Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School/Albion Hurricanes FC Houston) and Defender Chelsea Surpris (Crowley, Texas/Nolan Catholic High School/Dallas Sting ECNL 97).
As a result of 2014 Longhorns signees Mikayla Flores (F, La Verne, Calif.) and Jalynn Barron (D/M, Plano, Texas) taking redshirts last year for medical reasons, the upcoming season will effectively include nine new UT soccer contributors on the pitch.
"The academic prowess and the level of professional support given to our female student-athletes here at TEXAS, is unparalleled and allows us to be very discerning and specific with the talent and character that we are recruiting," Kelly said. "This 2015 class meets the standards in all of these facets, while possessing a ton of versatility, experience and athleticism. This class of seven will quickly jump to nine with the addition of our two redshirt freshmen, Mikayla Flores and Jalynn Barron, who were unable to see time last fall due to injury. We are extremely excited about our additions and look forward to implementing them into our competitive environment. The future of 'TEXAS Women's Soccer' is very bright here on the Forty Acres, as we are in the pursuit of championships."
