Three top 2013s make commitments
August 25, 2011
Of all the pressure-packed soccer moments Micaela Powers has experienced, nothing compares to her soccer recruiting journey. Those are her words, not ours.
“Other things have been stressful, but this was bigger because my college education is truly affecting the rest of my life,” Powers said. “It was very time consuming.”
Stressful, but well worth it as the Ohio Galaxies FC defender committed to Wisconsin where she found the program that was the perfect fit.
Powers’ assertion that college recruiting was her most nerve-jangling challenge says a lot considering her resume. Powers, ranked No. 11 in the 2013 Top 100, has represented the U.S. for both the U15 Girls National Team and U17 Women’s side all while developing into a true standout.
“I believe I will bring versatility in my ability to play many positions on the field,” she said. “In college, I hope to continually grow in all facets of my game and be a dominating aerial presence both offensively and defensively.”
Two additional 2013 stars sure to make their presence felt in college are Elizabeth Keester and Savannah Jordan.
Keester is No. 25 in the Top 100 and is heading to Texas A&M. Keester is a dynamic striker from TSC Hurricane who can score goals with the best of them.
Jordan comes from Concorde Fire SC, and is another stud striker who is ranked No. 66 in her class. She has made her verbal commitment with the Florida Gators.
