TopDrawerSoccer.com off to NJ for PDA Showcase
May 20, 2009
It’s been a bit of a rocky road, but there should be a championship feel this weekend at New Jersey club PDA as some of the top U15, U16 and U17 Girls teams in the country square off for titles in the league formerly known as Red Bull.
On the field, the top eight teams from the season’s previous “Red Bull” events will be grouped in two groups of four. Each team will play a round-robin schedule of three matches, with the group winners squaring off Monday afternoon in each of three age groups to determine this year’s champions.
In the U15 age group, Bracket A features hosts PDA Charge, fellow Region I side Stars of Massachusetts, Dallas-area side Solar Red and Real Colorado. In Bracket B, it’s Long Island giants Albertson Fury, Sting Dallas, Seattle-area club Crossfire Premier and Northern California’s Mustang SC.
In the U16 age group, a powerhouse Slammers team leads the way in Group A, with stiff competition expected from Mustang SC, Cleveland-area club Ohio Premier and hosts PDA Tsunami. In Bracket B, more of the leading clubs in girls elite youth soccer are represented with Stars of Mass, Colorado Rush, Eclipse Select and Real So Cal competing for the title.
At U17, hosts PDA Fire will contest Bracket A with local rivals FC DELCO, Northern California side Mustang SC and Arizona club Sereno SC. In Bracket B it will be Albertson SC, Eclipse Select, Crossfire Premier and Sting Dallas.
The weekend will also feature three additional Red Bull brackets per age group, and PDA Memorial Showcase brackets in each age group.
TopDrawerSoccer.com will be on hand all weekend with full match commentary, video highlights, player and coach interviews plus match reports and feature articles in print.

While the energy drink manufacturer withdrew its sponsorship from the league this season, many of the participating clubs have combined to form a new and much more expansive organization called the Elite Clubs National League. While that competition officially begins in the fall, the new venture will be a prominent topic at this weekend’s event, which also serves as PDA’s Memorial Day Showcase.
