The 2016 USL regular season is in the books. With nearly 30 teams, all of which are stocked with young talent, the league is living into its premise of providing a warm hearth for some of the best developing players in the country.
With so many young players, it’s useful from time to time to take stock in the ones making use of their chances and the ballyhooed prospects perhaps falling off the map a bit. That’s our task today. We’ll look at three players who made fine use of their 2016 seasons with an eye firmly on the first team. And we’ll also examine three highly regarded players who took a step back in that journey this year. That doesn’t mean the door is closed, but it perhaps creaked shut a bit more this season.
