Playing a second game in two days, the U.S. U15 GNT put in another dominant attacking performance. Abby Ballek scored four goals, and six other players chipped in goals in an 11-0 win against Jamaica.
Making her first start of the tournament, Ballek got the offense going in the fourth minute, putting the U.S. in front early. Ayva Jordan brilliantly headed home the second goal of the game, a nicely-taken finish from a Katie Scott set piece inside 10 minutes.
It didn’t take long for the U.S. to strike again. An exquisite, long diagonal ball over the top of the back line from Alexis Coughlin picked out Ava Harrison bursting into space. She collected the pass and finished with the outside of her foot to make it a 3-0 lead.
Scott bagged the fourth goal in the 24th minute. After slipping through a pair of defenders with possession, she snuck a low, driven shot to the near post to maintain the momentum. Three minutes later, Ballek had her second, collecting a loose ball in the box and lashing it home with her left foot.
Before the halftime whistle, Ashlyn Puerta scored the sixth of the game, volleying home a corner kick. It took a few minutes for the far-post finish to be awarded after a whistle was blown, but eventually the referee gave the goal.
The U.S. attack didn’t let up, but were unable to add to the lead for the first 10 minutes of the half. They did hit the crossbar, and substitute Alexandra Pfeiffer flashed a shot just wide of the far post.
Eventually, Ballek scored her third in the 53rd minute. After Kennedy Fuller won a 50-50 in the midfield, she played Carrie Helfrich in behind. The substitute held off an opposing defender, before slotting a pass to Ballek for a tap-in.
Pfeiffer played in Fuller to make it an 8-0 lead two minutes later. Fuller returned the favor, slipping in Pfeiffer behind a Jamaican back line for a 60th minute strike. The duo combined again, with Fuller finding Pfeiffer in space; Ballek rounded out the scoring with her fourth of the day thanks to a nice pass from Puerta.
