U15 PDA, Arsenal end with dramatic goals
ZAREPHATH, New Jersey – Two days down, one to go.
The ECNL PDA Invitational Girls College Showcase is setting up for an exciting finish Monday. But first, here are some key matches and performances from Day two, as well as the up-to-date standings.
U15 PDA 3, Arsenal FC 3
In what may have been the best match of the day, these two heavyweights battled it out for a familiar result, having also tied in a matchup last year in Portland, Oregon.
Undeterred, PDA came up with an answer with just seconds remaining. The New Jersey squad earned a corner kick and Rhea Barghash flew in for a majestic header that sent the team and crowd into a frenzy.
U17 Free State Soccer Alliance 1, Carolina Elite SA CESA 1
Caitlin Chase opened the action with a long blast to give Carolina the opening lead, but of course it didn’t last.
The early stages of the match featured really good soccer on both sides with each team moving the ball succinctly and with purpose. Krista Hagler was a standout for Free State. Small, but very polished, she is a good technical left-footed midfielder. She sent in more than a few great services from the left side to her teammates that helped create some momentum.
U16 SoccerPlus FC Eagles 1, Neusport FC 1
The pace of this match started quick but petered out and both goals were recorded in the first half.
Powerful striker Kayla Orozco, of SoccerPlus, opened the scoring, and Ashely Marra tied it for Neusport on a turnover. A bad pass from the Eagles’ back line was intercepted by Sienna Drizin and when her shot was deflected Orozco drilled it out of the air for the important score.
