The U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team and the U.S. Under-16 Girls’ National Team will come together for concurrent training camps running from Jan. 26-Feb. 2 at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center located south of San Diego.

U.S. U-17 WNT head coach Katie Schoepfer has called up 24 players, all born in 2008, as the squad holds its second camp with this birth year (the first was in Atlanta last September) in preparation for qualifying for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. Concacaf qualifying will be held in late March and the World Cup, the beginning of the annual staging of this tournament, will be held from Oct. 17-Nov. 8 in Morocco, which will host the next five editions of the competition.

U.S. U-16 GNT head coach Ciara Crinion has also called up 24 players, 23 of them born in 2009 with one, midfielder Loradana Paletta, born 2011. Paletta was the youngest player on the USA’s title-winning 2024 Concacaf Girls’ U-15 Championship team. All the U-16s are age-eligible for selection to the Concacaf World Cup qualifying squad, and if all goes well there, the World Cup in Morocco.

Four players on the U-17 roster were a part of the U.S. squad that took third place at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic. Goalkeeper Evan O’Steen played every minute of the final five games of the tournament and allowed just one goal. Midfielder Jaiden Rodriguez came off the bench in five matches and played 105 minutes while midfielder Scottlyn Antonucci played 46 minutes as a sub over three matches. Forward Mikayla Johnson played in all six games in the DR, starting three, and scored against Colombia in group play.

Twelve players over both camps won’t travel far as they hail from Southern California, including six from San Diego. U.S. U-16 GNT midfielder Lizette Castellanos is from Chula Vista. Five players across both camps hail from Texas.

The only professional player on the roster is forward and Utah native KK Ream, who recently signed with her home state Utah Royals.

Ten players coming to the U.S. U-16 GNT helped the USA win the 2024 Concacaf Girls’ U-15 Championship, including forwards Carolina Reyna and Madeline DiMaria, midfielders Mia Corona, Caroline Swann and Bristol Kersh and defender Meila Brewer. Those players combined for 12 goals in the tournament with a team-leading six coming from Reyna.
