U17 and U18 National camps meet in Carson
US Soccer will bring together Women’s Youth National Team camps once again, when the U18 and U17 groups convene at The Home Depot Center beginning this weekend.
Coach Dave Chesler will oversee the 18s who begin play in Carson, Calif., on Saturday, one day before the 17s, coached by Kaz Tambi – both will play through April 11.
Back in February, both groups were a part of supercamps when the 18s combined with the 20s in Chula Vista, CA., while the 17s and 15s got together in Sunrise, Fla.
U18 players include returning defenders Torri Allen and Rachel Quon, along with 2008 FIFA U17 Women’s World cup contributors: midfielders Elizabeth Eddy, Julia Roberts and forward Samantha Johnson.
For the 17s, this will be the second meeting in as many months. There won’t be a big turnover of players in this meeting as goalkeepers Bryane Heaberlin, Molly Poletto and Abby Smith are all back.
Caprice Dydasco and Morgan Andrews also return.
In addition to scrimmages against outside competition, the 17s and 18s will scrimmage each other Friday, April 10.
