U17 MNT roster named for STL training camp
U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team head coach John Hackworth named a 20-player roster for the team’s upcoming domestic training camp set to take place from Oct. 6-9 in St. Louis, Mo.
The U-17 MNT will face the Saint Louis FC U-18 Academy team at 7:30 p.m. CT on Oct. 8 at the World Wide Technology Soccer Park. The STLFC U-18 team will be made up of top players selected from two U.S. Soccer Development Academy member clubs: St. Louis Scott Gallagher Missouri and St. Louis Scott Gallagher Illinois.
Of the 20 U-17 MNT players called up, 18 currently play for Development Academy clubs and 19 have Development Academy ties. Furthermore, 16 out of the 20 players are part of U.S. Soccer’s 2016 Fall Residency Program in Bradenton, FL. The USA roster will feature Josh Sargent, who will be playing against his current club team, SLSG Missouri.
This camp comes on the heels of the U-17’s training camp in Panama that wrapped up on Oct. 2, where the team registered a win and a loss against Panama and a tie against Mexican side Chorillo FC.
After St. Louis, the U-17 MNT will host Costa Rica twice on Oct. 22 and 24 in Bradenton, FL.
