U17 Residency standout opts to stay home
December 15, 2011
Home, sweet home.
Patrick Foss will be staying there. Foss, our No. 23 ranked player in the 2013 class, has announced that he has verbally committed to Virginia.
Partick Foss
Foss hails from South Riding, Virginia, and is a product of DC United who was called into U.S. U17 Men’s National Team Residency in September of last year. A skilled midfielder for much of his club career, Foss has also gotten some looks at left back in recent days. Foss started there while playing for the DC United Reserves toward the end of their season. It was an adjustment, but one that Foss is warming up to. “It’s different, I went from being a goal scorer to not being the guy getting the glory – it’s growing on me,” Foss said. “But the way that we play is great; I have a lot of freedom that allows me to be a part of the attack.”
Foss had a host of programs after him, and also considering Maryland, North Carolina and Wake Forest. Virginia held a familiar appeal.
“My mom is a Virginia alum so I have been there many times,” Foss said. “Having my family close played a big role in my decision, and it’s a great program that has a lot to offer.”
It’s obviously a big pick up for the Cavaliers, the 2009 National Champions who have to fight off their competition each season in the country’s premier conference, the ACC.
Foss will join another blue chip recruit, Jordan Allen (No. 9 in 2013 class Top 100), at Virginia when he arrives in a couple years.
