U18 MNT roster for Limoges Tournament
U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team head coach Javier Perez named an 18-player roster to travel to Limoges, France, for a four-team international tournament that will take place Oct. 6-14. The U.S. will face the U-18 teams from the Czech Republic, France and Poland.
The U.S. held a week-long, 36-player training camp at U.S. Soccer’s National Training Center in Carson, Calif., from Sept. 22-29 to prepare for the tournament. The 18 players selected from the camp depart Sunday, Oct. 6, for Paris, France. The team begins play Wednesday, Oct. 9, against France at 7 p.m. local time before facing the Czech Republic on Friday, Oct. 11, at 3 p.m. local time. The U.S. wraps up tournament play on Sunday, Oct. 13, against Poland at 3 p.m. local time. All matches will take place at Parc Municipal des Sports de Beaublanc in Limoges.
Fifteen of the 18 players traveling to France currently play for Development Academy teams, including four, Corey Baird (Real Salt Lake AZ), TJ Marcinkowski (San Jose Earthquakes), Erik Palmer-Brown (Sporting Kansas City) and Benjamin Swanson (Crew Soccer Academy; Grove City, Ohio), who play for MLS club academies. Three players, Emerson Hyndman (Fulham FC), Rubio Rubin (FC Utrecht) and Kyle Scott (Chelsea FC) play for European-based clubs – both Hyndman and Rubin played formerly with Development Academy teams.
It will be the first tournament for the current cycle of players that will prepare for the 2015 CONCACAF Championship. Six of the players on the roster were born in 1997, while 12 were born in 1996.
