February 17, 2009
A couple of good goalkeeping performances this weekend helped Potomac SC’s U18 team remain undefeated on the young USSF Development Academy League season.
Alex Stopa kept a clean sheet Saturday in the squad’s scoreless draw against Met Oval, while Sam Kernan-Schloss made some key saves in guiding the team to a 2-1 win Sunday over FC Westchester.
Potomac goals came from Franco Buzzalino on an assist from Tomiwa Adewole and Andrew Riemer, unassisted. Thomas Mcnamara scored for FC Westchester. Both matches were played at the Maryland Soccerplex. Look for more on the Potomac team later this week on TopDrawerSoccer.com.
In U16 play, DC United took a pair of wins to also remain undefeated. Richie Burke’s team beat FC Westchester 3-1 and Met Oval 1-0. The games were also played at Maryland Soccerplex.
