This week marks the start of the Under-20 Women’s World Cup, which kicks off in Costa Rica on Wednesday, August 10.
Sixteen teams are making the trip, each with an eye on winning the competition.
The tournament is in an interesting spot, as a handful of the confederations awarded spots based on pre-pandemic tournaments (AFC, UEFA); Concacaf and CONMEBOL were able to hold competitions.
That will make pre-competition scouting a touch more difficult for certain squads, and preparations are sure to make a big difference when the ball starts rolling.
Regardless, here are 10 players to watch at the tournament from non-U.S. teams.
