With the ongoing objective to expand and improve the Men’s Youth National Team player pool, U.S. Soccer will hold its annual U-14 Boys’ Talent Identification camp from May 8-13. The camp will be the first-ever at the new, state-of-the-art Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center, set to open later this month in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Sixty players were selected from U.S. Soccer’s three regional mini camps which were held earlier this spring and will be broken up into three teams representing the North, South and West regions of the country. The camp will be overseen by Garret Biller, Director of Talent Identification for Men’s Youth National Teams, with the squads coached by Dan Donigan and Rob Irvine (North), Arturo Alvarez and Chris Kranjc (South) and Junior Burgos and Roberto Gimenez (West).
A key component of The U.S. Way Philosophy, the U-14 TID Program is designed to discover and introduce a larger base of top talents at the U-14 age group into the scouting funnel of the older U-15 to U-20 MYNTs. The mini-camp format helps to evaluate and inspire high-potential players while accelerating their development in an engaging and challenging environment.
In addition to expanding the YNT player pool at its early stages, this scouting and identification structure allows top players at the U-14 age level time to absorb core principles of the YNT philosophy and accelerate their development.
The program also offers the opportunity to bolster U.S. Soccer’s national network of scouts. U.S. Soccer scouts serve as coaches with the regional teams, furthering their education and development while also building the Federation’s connection with clubs across the country.
